Project Offshore

This project was different from previous ones, as it came from another course I took for two years. For this project, we had to design a functional gantry crane in groups within 10 weeks. In doing so, we were provided with two axles, and one axle we had to design ourselves.

For our model, we developed our own axle using a track connected to a motor via a spindle.

We also created a grid to accurately determine where to pick up the box. The box is picked up with an electromagnet that we can turn on and off.

With the three axes, we programmed the system so that you can enter the coordinates of the grid, and then the crane automatically navigates to that position, picks up the box and takes it to the desired location.

Learned and applied skills:

- Design through testing and improvement

- Working with Festo axes

- Basic electrical engineering

- Working in groups

- Laser cutting

- Inventor
